THAIFEX-World of Food Asia to Host the Asia selection of the Global Chef Challenges in 2015
THAIFEX-World of Food Asia is proud to host the Asia selection of the Global Chef Challenges, one of the culinary world’s most prestigious competitions.
From 20 – 24 May 2015, this renowned competition will take place at Impact Forum Exhibition Hall 9, alongside the 4th Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge at the World of FoodService exhibition presented by THAIFEX-World of Food Asia, the dedicated platform for all food service professionals.
The Worldchefs Global Chef Challenges are divided into 3 categories – the Global Chefs, the Global Pastry Chefs and the Hans Bueschkens Young Chefs Challenge – and are organized by Worldchefs, the global network of chefs that represents 10 million chefs in over 100 countries worldwide.
Each challenge is an individual competition, created for chefs, young chefs and pastry chefs. The Hans Bueschkens Young Chefs Challenge is designed to promote and encourage young talent, with competitors below 25 years old. The Global Pastry Chefs Challenge, which was introduced in 2012, has established itself as a dedicated platform for professional pastry chefs to showcase their skills.
The competitions take place over 2 years, where competitors must first undergo a national selection process, before the selected winners represent their countries in the Continental selection. The champion will then represent his or her Continent at the finals at the Worldchefs Congress 2016 in Athens. With 19 countries as member countries in Asia, the competition stage is set to
sizzle with culinary excitement.
Chef Willment Leong, Founder & Chairman at Thailand Chefs Association, shared, “Thailand boasts a dynamic and booming hospitality industry, and it
has built up a stellar reputation for hosting world-class culinary competitions. With the development of the greater Indochina region, THAIFEX-World of Food Asia has become the ideal venue for professional chefs to network and exchange knowledge and techniques with their industry peers. Given the strong support by Koelnmesse, organizer of THAIFEX – World of Food Asia and World of FoodService, we have been nurturing chefs in Thailand through competitions. Hosting the Continental selection of the Global Chef Challenges is the next step to bring to a higher level what we have built up and achieved so far.”
Rick Stephen, Asia Continental Director says, “At Worldchefs, we believe that competition is an important part of education. This is why we have grown the Global Chefs and Hans Bueschkens Young Chefs Challenge over the years, and introduced the Global Pastry Chefs during the last edition. We are very pleased to have found a partner in THAIFEX-World of Food Asia, a partner who shares this vision as us. We are very excited about bringing our Asia selection to Thailand for the first time.”
Globally recognized as the annual exhibition for Food & Beverages, Food Service & Catering, Food Technology and Retail & Franchise in Asia, THAIFEX – World of Food Asia celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2014. A landmark event, the trade exhibition has consistently achieved milestone results, with new records in exhibitor and visitor numbers for the 2014 edition. To cater to the demands of the growing number of international visitors, THAIFEX-World of Food Asia has also introduced several industry specific programs.
Mr. Michael Dreyer, Vice President Asia Pacific, Koelnmesse Pte Ltd, says, “As the organizer of THAIFEX-World of Food Asia, we saw how the food service segment within our flagship trade show has evolved over the last 11 years. From an exhibition with mostly local reach, the show has gained an ever more international participation, with a steady growth in the showing of country pavilions and overseas brands. This would not have been possible without our partners, such as the Thailand Chefs Association, Thailand Culinary Academy and Worldchefs, whose work and initiatives around the world have
also given us a global standing. This honor to host the Asia selection of the Global Chefs Challenges marks another milestone for us. We will ensure all efforts necessary are undertaken in order to present the best and highest standard of presentations at the show.”
THAIFEX-World of Food Asia 2015 will return to IMPACT Exhibiton and Convention Center from 20 to 24 May 2015.
